SITA demonstrates community spirit by launching the world's first industry specific voice exchange

SITA, the world's leading service provider of IT business solutions and communications services to the air transport industry (ATI), today launched the industry's first –Voice Exchange – an innovative service designed to allow members of the air transport community to dramatically reduce communication costs and providing a secure, efficient and flexible alternative to the legacy Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).

SITA has pre-registered 2 and 3-letter airline and airport codes

All 2 character airline codes, all 3 letter location codes allocated to municipal areas and all 3 letter airline codes of IATA airlines have been pre-registered and activated in .aero.

In April, following a recommendation from the Dot Aero Council (DAC), the cross-industry advisory body overseeing development of the .aero domain.

SITA to release 3-letter airport codes and reserved names

At the last .aero council (DAC) meeting on June 6th, it was recommended that SITA release 3-letter airport codes (location identifiers) and the currently reserved special industry and other reserved domain names for registration by eligible members of the aviation community on a first-come-first-served basis.

This is a last chance for airports to secure their 3-letter codes, which have been reserved exclusively for airport use since 2002.

SriLankan Airlines Among First to Migrate to New Internet Domain '.aero'

SriLankan Airlines became one of the first airlines in the world to migrate to the new Internet domain ".aero" that has been created for the specific use of the aviation industry.

From June 1, 2003, SriLankan Airlines' corporate website changed from www.srilankan.lk to www.srilankan.aero.
